Gamma Gurus' Level 1b Dosimetry Fact Sheet
What is a Gamma Gurus' Level 1b Dosimetry Audit?
The Level 1b Dosimetry Audit is an onsite audit. The onsite Level Ib audit is an accurate measurement of the linac output, and determines the absorbed dose to water per monitor unit for megavoltage photon and electron beams under reference conditions in external beam radiotherapy.
Who performs the Level 1b audit?
The audit is carried out by one of Gamma Gurus' independent contractors.
Is the person performing the Level 1b audit qualified?
Yes. Our independent contractors are all accredited by the Australian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) to be a Certified, and Qualified Medical Physics Specialist (CMPS/QMPS).
Additionally, Gamma Gurus is a NATA-accredited organisation and can provide your department with a range of dosimetry audits in accordance with ISO/IEC:17025.
Do I have to have any equipment for the Level 1b audit?
No. Our contractors will provide independently calibrated dosimetry equipment to conduct the Level 1b audit.
What does the Level 1b audit check?
All clinical photon and electron energies are evaluated by comparing the facility-stated dose to the audit-measured dose under reference conditions.
Our CMPS/QMPS contractor will following the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) guidelines described in their Technical Report Series paper TRS398 to conduct the Level 1b audit on all machines in your department.
How do I get the results of my Level 1b audit?
Gamma Gurus will provide you with a full report of your Level 1b audit.
